Painting with history in a room filled with people with funny names 3 (2015)
Korakrit Arunanondchai
Painting with history in a room filled with people with funny names 3 is an explosive and energetic meditation by Thai artist Korakrit Arunanondchai. The film centers around a conversation between a representation of the artist; 'The Denim Painter', and an omniscient spirit; 'Chantri'. Looking at Buddhist and Animist traditions, replacing the divine by drones, blending together reality and fiction, Arunanondchai contemplates the intangible spiritual through body painting, performance, and hip-hop.
Korakrit Arunanondchai lives and works in New York and Bangkok. He acquired a Bachelor at Rhode Island School of Design and received a Master in Fine Art from Columbia University. Arunanondchai was also educated at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine. As an artist and filmmaker, he has a worldwide range of screenings, solo and group exhibitions and performances.
